Enrollment at the University of Charleston has increased 10 percent, school officials say, bringing the total number of students attending the private college to more than 2,300.
UC officials say the increase of about 200 students is due to enrollment growth in online programs that are part of the university's School of Business and Leadership. Those programs currently serve 636 students, up from 300 last year. Most are military students, some of which, the school says, are on active duty.
The University of Charleston has nearly doubled enrollment since 2012 - growth partly owed to opening regional campuses in Beckley and Martinsburg. The university also has increased its online degree offerings.
Over the past 15 years, enrollment has steadily increased. In 2000, the university had 835 students.
The university currently has 600 graduate students and 559 student-athletes. About 750 students live on campus.
