Drivers in the Porter Hollow area of Charleston may need to find other ways in and out of the neighborhood over the next several days. A "major line reconstruction project" for the city's sanitary sewer system began Monday, closing Porter Road between Callie Road (by the railroad tracks) and Bendview Drive from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., according to city officials. As work on the project progresses, different sections of the road south of MacCorkle Avenue will be closed. Drivers can detour via Loudon Heights Road.
