A 16-year-old boy robbed another teenager and fired a shot to scare him in a parking garage at the Charleston Town Center on Monday, according to police.
The 16-year-old convinced a 15-year-old boy to exit the mall and enter the Lee Street parking garage at about 3:30 p.m., according to Lt. Steve Cooper, Charleston police chief of detectives. The suspect then allegedly fired a handgun once to intimidate and rob the victim.
"The juvenile and the suspect know one another," Cooper said. "We are just working on gathering a few more particulars to file charges."
Cooper said the suspect fled when he saw another person in the garage. The parking garage wasn't busy at the time.
Cooper said it happened in the area of the garage where trucks can load and unload.
