The Veterans Affairs Community Based Outpatient Clinic is moving to U.S. 119 South at 700 Technology Drive in South Charleston, according to a news release from the Huntington VA Medical Center.

Renovations already are underway. VA leadership anticipates the clinic will open in the summer of 2016. The current clinic, located at 104 Alex Lane in Charleston, will remain open until then.

The new clinic will be approximately 14,500 square feet, nearly triple the size of the current clinic.

The clinic will continue to provide primary care and mental health services, and will also begin to provide optometry, women's health services, telehealth, laboratory services and X-rays.

"We are excited to be moving to a beautiful, expansive clinic where we can offer more specialty care services," Sarah Portillo, clinic manager, said in the release.

Brian Nimmo, medical center director, said in the release that it would "allow us to better serve the needs (of) our Veteran population in the Charleston area."

The Charleston VA Clinic provides healthcare services to approximately 6,000 veterans in Kanawha and surrounding counties.
