Kroger will celebrate the completion of a $4.2 million renovation of its Kanawha City store in Charleston with lower prices and giveaways Wednesday.
The store has "a brand new feel," said manager John Carpenter. "The biggest change is the extensive variety we now offer throughout the store. We did thorough studies of the preferences of our customers and have added the items they want the most."
The Natural Foods and Organics sections have been expanded along with the dairy section and frozen foods. In addition, the beer selection is much larger and includes local and craft beers.
The Floral Department has been moved to the front of the store near the updated Customer Service counter.
The store has six new self-checkout lanes and an additional regular lane to help customers complete their shopping more efficiently.
As a result of the remodel, Kroger has created 15 new jobs and now employs 138 associates at the store.
The 58,000-square-foot store at 5717 MacCorkle Ave. S.E. opened in 1984. It was expanded in 1999, and a fuel center was added in 2001.
