Detectives still are investigating a Friday afternoon incident where a St. Albans man was shot in the legs.

At about 3:50 p.m. Friday, Kanawha Metro 911 dispatchers began receiving calls about a shooting at a home on Everest Circle off Strawberry Road along the Coal River. Kanawha sheriff's deputies responded to the scene and found that the shooter, whose name was not released, had remained at the house.

The shooter told deputies he was attacked by the man, chief Deputy Mike Rutherford said in an email. Rutherford said deputies found that the shooter had placed a tourniquet on the man's upper thigh to help slow blood loss.

Kanawha County paramedics asked a deputy to drive the ambulance to Thomas Memorial Hospital in South Charleston to allow both medics to work on the wounded man. The man, whose name also was not released, was later transferred to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital.

Detectives with the Kanawha Bureau of Investigation are looking in to the matter. Rutherford said the shooter has been cooperative.

Deputies will discuss the case with the prosecuting attorney's office before deciding whether or not to bring criminal charges, Rutherford said.
