A man was shot in Nitro on Monday night after crashing into a truck parked outside a home on Moriah Drive, the police chief said.
The homeowner went outside at about 8:30 p.m. and confronted a man who had just crashed into a truck parked in his driveway, said Nitro police Chief Steve Walker.
"The homeowner ended up fearing for his life and ended up shooting the person who was driving the vehicle," Walker said.
The man who was shot was taken to an area hospital and is expected to live, Walker said.
The homeowner has not been charged and might not be, Walker said. Police haven't released the names of anyone involved.
The Kanawha Sheriff's Office will handle most of the investigation, Walker said.
Moriah Drive, which is off Lakeview Drive, is in an upscale neighborhood, Walker said. The one lane road only has about three houses on it.
