A Charleston couple spent the last year trying to find a husband for their daughter.

Not because of any religion or tradition - but for reality TV.

Derald and Becky Rollyson will be one of four couples on the second season of TLC's "Married by Mom and Dad," which begins at 9 p.m. Sunday.

A "modern take on voluntary arranged marriages," the show, according to its website, follows four singles searching for love who go to the two people who know them best - mom and dad.

Christina Rollyson, a St. Albans native who now lives in South Carolina, will depend on her dad, Derald, and stepmother, Becky, to find her a husband.

Derald Rollyson works as a social worker in juvenile cases for the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources. He's been married to Becky Rollyson about 17 years. She's a respiratory therapist at Charleston Area Medical Center.

"Well, we are mom and dad vetting prospects and hoping to find the right man to marry our daughter," the couple wrote in response to several questions from the Gazette-Mail. "You'll see us meet with many potential candidates to ask them questions."

To hear from the Rollysons about the show, a spokesman for The Learning Channel required that questions be answered via email. Many of the couple's friends and family members found out about them being on the show when the commercials started airing, they said.

Christina Rollyson, who owns a travel agency in Charleston, South Carolina, was noticed by a production company and immediately told she would be a good fit for the show, according to her parents.

"It just kind of fell in her lap. She contacted my wife and I by phone and asked if we would be in the show," Derald Rollyson said. "I thought it was unusual at first, but we agreed to do this after thinking about it. We decided we wanted to help our daughter find someone who would make her happy."

The couple said they enjoyed the filming process and described it as a once-in-a-lifetime experience. They admit, though, that they are nervous to watch themselves on TV.

"It was a cultural shock to be on the other side of the camera after watching TV in our family room for years. Every day was a whirlwind," the couple wrote. "We had laughter, tears and ups and downs."

People magazine posted a sneak peak of the show on Friday, which shows an ex-Michigan State football player, identified only as "Brett," trying to impress Derald and Becky Rollyson.

"We're serious about this, and we're looking for the exact, right person for Christina," Becky Rollyson tells Brett, in the clip.

The couple shows Brett a photo of their daughter and he responds she is a "very pretty girl."

"Are you ready to go to the altar with that girl?" Derald Rollyson asks.

The couple said Friday that they plan to watch the first episode of the show with close friends, who planned a viewing party.
