Authorities recovered a woman's body from the Kanawha River just before noon on Thursday.
A tugboat crew spotted the body near Blaine Island in South Charleston at about 11:10 a.m., a Kanawha County dispatcher said.
South Charleston police officers remained on the river bank with the body at 1:30 p.m.
Police closed a concrete boat ramp off Riverside Drive, near the intersection of Jefferson Road. The scene was located near Riverwalk Plaza, and across the river from Shamblin Stone.
Investigators had yet to identify the woman as of Thursday afternoon, according to a news release from the South Charleston Police Department.
