A trial has been rescheduled for a man accused of threatening to blow up a state office after he was denied unemployment benefits in 2015.

Kanawha Circuit Judge Jennifer Bailey granted the continuance for the trial of William Joseph Estep, 43. His trial was scheduled to begin Monday morning.

Bailey granted the extension when assistant Kanawha prosecutor Michele Drummond said she only recently was able to get in touch with a witness, a former WorkForce West Virginia employee who had moved since leaving the agency.

Estep allegedly told a WorkForce West Virginia employee over the phone that he would "blow up the office" on Dec. 14, 2015, after he learned he wouldn't receive any money from his unemployment claim.

He is charged with threatening to commit a terroristic act, as well as unrelated drug charges and being a person prohibited in possession of a firearm.
