By Staff reports

Wednesday marks the final day to register to compete in Saturday's inaugural WV Gaming Championship esports event at the Charleston Town Center mall.

The day-long event, which features three separate tournaments and will take place at Macy's Court at the mall, will bring gamers of all ages to the capital city to compete for more than $5,000 in cash and prizes. Spots in the tournaments are limited and registration closes at 11:59 p.m. Players can register online at wvgamingchampionship.com.

The main event will be a 16-team, 4v4 double-elimination "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" tournament on PlayStation 4. The winning team receives $2,500, with the runner-up earning $1,000 and third place taking home $500. Sign-in and warmups for the "Black Ops III" tournament begin at 9 a.m., with the first matches taking place at 11 a.m.

Other single-player tournaments will be held for "NBA 2K17" on PS4 and "Mario Kart 8 Deluxe" on Nintendo Switch. The "2K17" tournament is an 8-player, single-elimination format while "Mario Kart" features 16 players in a single-elimination draw.

Entry fees are $15 for the solo events and $200 per team in the "Black Ops III" competition.
