The Kanawha Trail Club will have a hike at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the Kanawha State Forest's Pigeon Roost/Boundary Road/Pine Ridge/Campground Loop. Carpool from the parking lot at the corner of Ohio Avenue and Randolph Street in Charleston, across from post office. Regroup at Johnson Hollow. The hike is about four moderate miles with a few steep up and down sections.
A regular meeting of the Malden Public Service District Board of Commissioners will be held at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the District Office located in the Administrative Building of the Wastewater Treatment Facility.
West Virginia University Extension Service in Putnam County is accepting applications for the 2017 Putnam County Master Gardener Program, a service organization. This program consists of a volunteer training course designed to provide home gardeners with the information and skills necessary to share their experience and knowledge with others. There will be thirteen, three-hour night classes held weekly beginning in September. Those interested in participating should attend an orientation meeting at 7 p.m. on Aug. 8 at the Old Winfield Courthouse. The fee is $100, which covers the training manual and other materials.
