Every Thursday a farmers' market pops up outside of the Cabin Creek Health Center in eastern Kanawha County.
The farmers' market began at the Dawes area clinic on July 20 and will continue every Thursday until Oct. 12. The market runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., according to a news release from the clinic.
Thankful Valley Farms and Hatchery of Mason County brings fresh fruits, vegetables, jams and meats to sell. Workers from WVU Extension Service also attend the market to provide education on healthy eating and nutritious recipes.
"Our goal here at the clinic in providing what we have called 'The FARMacy' is to bring access of fresh fruits, vegetables, eggs, and other farm goodies to an area and community that otherwise has to do without," Jeremy Lloyd, care coordinator, said in the release.
