A Charleston man was sentenced Tuesday to serve the remainder of his one-year sentence in jail after leaving a rehabilitation center.
Zachary Jones, son of Charleston Mayor Danny Jones, violated his probation when he left the Four Seasons Recovery Center in Bluefield.
Jones' attorney, Justin Collin, requested home confinement for Jones since his leaving the center was "not an issue of running off to get high, just butting heads with staff members."
Jones' drug screen was clean when he returned.
"Home confinement would be rewarding Mr. Jones," said Fred Giggenbach, Kanawha County assistant prosecutor.
Giggenbach said Jones' life had been a "revolving door" of jail, probation and rehabilitation.
"He's not willing to conform his actions to what authorities say..." Giggenbach said. "I can't think of another defendant in the last decade that has had this many opportunities."
Kanawha Circuit Judge Duke Bloom said he didn't know of a viable alternative to jail for Jones.
"I really have tried everything I could to get you clean and on the right path," Bloom said.
Jones pleaded guilty to fraudulent schemes in 2011.
