Rental fees at the Charleston Civic Center and the Charleston Municipal Auditorium will be going up.
City council approved a bill Monday night that will raise prices for renting the spaces.
Rentals at the Municipal Auditorium will go up starting July 1. The regular rate will increase by $250 to $1,500 per day or 10 percent of gross admissions after taxes. Rehearsal rates at the facility will also go up by $150.
Civic Center rates will go up starting July of next year. The rate to rent the Coliseum will go up by $500 to $5,000 or 12 percent of gross admissions after taxes. Exhibit show pricing in the Coliseum will go up $400 to $3,950.
Pricing will also go up in the Civic Center's exhibition halls, meeting rooms, ballrooms, and theater. A detailed list of increases can be found here .
Fees will be used to pay for capital improvement funds for both buildings. The funds can only be used to fund improvements and renovations on both buildings, and unexpected or major repairs or replacements at each facility.
Council also voted to:
◘ Authorize a change order for $24,290 to Asphalt Contractors and Site Work Inc for the Kanawha City 42nd street streetscape enhancements. According to the order, two gas lines were discovered during the project that weren't originally marked. This brings the contract price for the project up to about $222,000.
• Authorize a change order for $7,711.37 to McClanahan Construction for the Kanawha Trestle Walk and Bikeway Project. The change order will pay for a trench drain system, and addition concrete curbing for other trench drain systems. This brings the contract price for the project up to almost $4.9 million.
• Authorize a refund to Tyco Integrated Security for overpayment of B&O taxes for the between April 1, 2013 and March 31, 2016. Tyco will receive $10,863.08 from the city.
• Allow the city manager to enter an agreement with the Department of Transportation Division of Highways for the purpose of installation and maintenance of the Gallery 64 project on interstate piers at Randolph Street.
• Approve the mayor's decision to enter into a memorandum of understanding with participating agencies of Metro Drug Enforcement Network Team.
• Approve a bill granting Whirlwind Storage LLC, an easement to construct an exterior fire escape on the back a building located at 1352 Hansford Street.
• Amend the city's zoning ordinance by amending the front setback exception and adding the definition "Traditional Neighborhood."
• Amend the city's zoning ordinance by allowing accessory dwelling units in owner-occupied single-family dwellings with conditions.
• Adopt the updated Region 3 Hazards Mitigation Plan as an official plan.
