Emergency officials in Charleston and Kanawha County say they'll be testing some procedures this week used to notify the public about emergency situations.
The test will be conducted at noon Wednesday in the area around Southridge Centre, off Corridor G.
Kanawha County Emergency Manager C.W. Sigman says most people won't even notice any effects from the test.
"People who happen to be in the shopping areas along the corridor may receive a notification of an emergency drill on their cell phones and may hear some PA announcements," he said in a news release. "But, 'this is only a test.' "
Sigman said that the exercise will be held in conjunction with the county's monthly test of its outdoor warning sirens.
