More than 2,000 Charleston customers are without power after problems with a sub-station on the city's East End.
AEP says 1,023 customers on the East End, and 1,094 on the West Side are affected. Ruffner Elementary near Oakridge Drive is without power and will be dismissing students at 1 p.m.
Kanawha County Metro 911 dispatchers told responders to avoid CAMC Women and Children's Hospital because of the outage.
AEP estimates power will be restored around 3 p.m.
