A woman was arrested in Rand Tuesday after deputies say she held a knife near her infant son and made threats to kill him while arguing with the child's father.
Kanawha sheriff's deputies were dispatched just before 4:30 p.m. to a home at 201 Bluefield Ave. to investigate a disturbance. Cpl. S. Adams arrived at the scene and found a man and woman who had been in an argument. Adams spoke to both and had the incident resolved when things escalated, Kanawha sheriff's Sgt. Sean Snuffer wrote in a release.
Adams offered the woman, identified as Tiffany Nicole Mosley, 23, and her 3-week-old son a ride to another location and was in the process of securing the child's carseat into her police cruiser when Mosley and the man, identified as the child's father, began to argue again, the release states. Mosley, who had the infant in a carrier on her chest, then pulled a knife and held it near her infant son, threatening to kill him, Snuffer wrote.
Adams tried to grab the child from Mosley, but couldn't. The corporal then went for the knife and was able to get it from Mosley and toss it to a nearby yard, the release said. The baby was unharmed and was taken from Mosley and released to his father. Child Protective Services was notified.
Mosley was arrested and charged with domestic assault, a misdemeanor. She was arraigned Tuesday night and was being held at South Central Regional Jail on $10,000 cash bond.
