St. Albans City Council moved to certify all but one submission for candidacy for Council and mayor at Monday night's meeting.

Every candidate, with the exception of one, met the qualifications for registered voters, City Attorney Charles Riffee said.

"[That candidate] did not collect the required number of verified registered voters' signatures," Riffee said.

Mayor Dick Callaway presented for approval the re-appointment of Ronald Forren to the Housing Authority with a term to expire on Feb. 18, 2022.

"Ronald Forren has served very good the past session and he will accept that position again if you so move," Callaway said.

In the city parks report, Ward 2 Councilman Jason Philabaun announced a movie night at the Hansford Center at 7 p.m. Feb. 18.

"We will be showing the original 'Ghostbusters' at the Hansford center," Philabaun said. "We will actually have the Ghostbusters there."

A local group dresses up like the ghost hunting heroes to raise money for charity.

Council approved the payment of current invoices for the city in the amount of $9,825.93

In other action, Council gave permission to accept bids for a used fire department Draeger airpack system.

"We have old Draeger air packs, we just bought Scott air packs which are newer and better," Philabaun said. "We are trying to get rid of those, so the companies that want these can quote us some money."

Council also approved the donation of eight Draeger cylinders to the Eleanor Volunteer Fire Department.

Ward 1 Councilman Robert Keiffer was the only Council member absent from Monday's meeting.

Council's next meeting will be 7:30 p.m. Feb. 21 on the second floor of the municipal building at 51 Sixth Ave.
