An elderly man who shot and killed his daughter last week will be charged with murder, police said.
William Jack Stuck, 92, will be arrested and charged with first-degree murder when he is released from the hospital, where he is being treated for a self-inflicted gunshot wound, according to Sgt. Brian Humphreys, spokesman for the Kanawha County Sheriff's Office.
On the morning of Oct. 6, Stuck called 911 and told a Kanawha County dispatcher that he had shot his daughter.
When sheriff's deputies responded to Stuck's home at 2605 Larwood Drive in the Mink Shoals area, they found Sandra Nichols, 68, shot to death in the kitchen. Her father was in the basement with a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the upper body, according to Kanawha Sheriff's Capt. Greg Young. Stuck was taken to CAMC General Hospital.
Neighbors, who said they knew Stuck for many years, said Nichols lived near her father, and had been staying with her father and taking care of him as his health declined.
