With October proving to be one of the capital city's busiest months, community groups are planning dozens of events to draw in residents and visitors alike.
The Charleston Convention and Visitors Bureau, along with various partners, held a press conference and trade show at the Civic Center Monday to showcase what's coming to Charleston during what they've dubbed an "October Staycation."
"We want everyone in Charleston to be an ambassador and invite their friends and relatives to come," said Alisa Bailey, executive director of the visitors bureau.
From old favorites such as the Rod Run and Doo Wop, HallowEast and OktoberWest, to new twists such as a Mountain Stage hosted by Conor Knighton, a West Virginia native and CBS correspondent, the month is likely to have something for everyone.
"October is a special month in Charleston," said Charleston Mayor Danny Jones, who spoke at Monday's press conference. "June and October - those are the months you're not going to find me leaving the city."
