Elk River Community Center will hold a community fair from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the center, 1078 Main St., Elkview.
Recognizing this summer has been difficult for Elk River residents, the center wants to offer some light fun and laughter for young people of all ages.
Vendor space will be available for $20 inside or $15 for outdoor spots. A table and two chairs may be rented for $5. Space is limited.
A basketball tournament will be held for three person teams on the Center's small basketball court playing for three minutes. Teams will be for different ages, bracketed, and costs $25 entry fee per team. There will be cash prizes for winning team in each age category. Games will start at 9 a.m.
An Elk River's Got Talent show will offer cash prizes for best singers (karaoke provided), dancers and stand up comedians (no foul language, please). Time allotted for each act is five minutes. The show starts at 10 a.m. with a limited amount of entries. Entry fee is $5 per participant.
The Community Center's Thrift Room will also be open with a wide selection of clothes and houseware items.
A Quilting Room sale will offer quality material, ribbons, yarn, quilting frames and many other crafting items. A quilt will be raffled off to help pay for the center's clean up from the flood.
Other attractions are being arranged such as a fire truck, EMT ambulance and sheriff's vehicles for the children to explore, a dunking booth, free food, raffles and a commercial food truck will be onsite.
