The unofficial results for the City of Nitro's local elections on Tuesday are as follows:

Nitro Mayor Dave Casebolt, who was first elected mayor in 2012, will serve a second term after running unopposed, with 284 votes.

City Recorder Rita Cox also ran unopposed and received 287 votes.

Three candidates ran unopposed for the three vacant at-large positions for Nitro City Council.

Incumbent at-large councilman Bill Javins received 221 votes. Andy Shamblin, who previously represented Ward 4, received 204 votes. John Montgomery received 187 votes.

Donna Boggs defeated incumbent Councilman Al Walls for the seat representing Ward 1. Boggs received 56 votes and Walls, who had been elected to office in 2012, received 47 votes.

Ward 2 incumbent Councilman Bill Racer ran unopposed and received 48 votes.

Ward 3 incumbent Councilwoman Laurie Elkins also ran unopposed, receiving 50 votes.

Michael Hill defeated opponents Kenneth Terry and Jim McKay for the council seat representing Ward 4.

Hill received 40 votes to Terry's 39 votes and McKay's 33 votes.

Each of the positions carry four-year terms.

Cox said on Tuesday that the city will count any provisional ballots next week. Those ballots, she said, could potentially change the winner of the Ward 4 council race due to the closeness of the results.
