Outdoor burning is currently banned from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m., however, county officials strongly discourage any outdoor burning until further notice, according to a message from the Kanawha County Department of Homeland Security and Emergency Management.
The National Weather Service in Charleston does not see any rainfall in the forecast until Thursday night or Friday. The department advises recent warm and dry weather conditions and lack of foliage on trees and shrubs mean the ground in wooded areas is very dry, and outdoor fires can spread out of control very easily.
Several fires are currently burning within the county, according to the department.
