Charleston police are investigating after a man was shot in the neck at a Kanawha City motel.
It happened just before 10:30 p.m. Tuesday at Knights Inn at 6401 MacCorkle Ave. S.E., Kanawha Metro 911 dispatchers said.
Officers found Justin Spillis, 26, of Jacksonville, Florida, with a gunshot wound to the neck.
Spillis was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center's General Hospital, where Sgt. J. A. Hunt said his condition is listed as serious, but stable, as of Wednesday afternoon. Hunt said Spillis is in Charleston working for an out-of-state contractor, and was staying at the Knights Inn.
Witnesses described three black men entering Spillis' room prior to the shooting, Hunt said. Detectives continue to work on the case.
