The Kanawha-Charleston Humane Association's Joe Holland Chevrolet and Imports adoption event, scheduled for Friday and Saturday, has been postponed for two weeks.
"KCHA staff noticed Thursday that a couple of the 19 puppies scheduled for the event had come down with the sniffles," said Jessie Shafer, director of development for the shelter, in an email. "As a service to the public, we have made the decision to hold off on the event until we can guarantee the health of the animals."
Postponing the event was a decision made out of an overabundance of caution, Shafer said, and shelter officials feel that two weeks is ample time to ensure the puppies are healthy and safe.
A make-up date for the event has not yet been set.
