Kanawha County's family court division will host its fifth annual Black History Month "Star" Celebration Program and continuing legal education seminar from noon to 2:30 p.m. Thursday in the Ceremonial Courtroom on the second floor of the Kanawha County Courthouse, 309 Virginia St. This year's theme is Bridge Builders.
The committee's "Star" honorees are Irene Berger, Patricia Edwards, Robert Easley, Warne Ferguson, Phyllis Gatson, Carole "Cookie" Glasser, Marshall Moss, James Parker and Matthew Watts. This year's celebration will also include a special student/professional dialogue panel called "Wisdom From The Village." This event will be held right after the reception.
The court, in conjunction with the Office of the Governor's Herbert Henderson Office of Minority Affairs is inviting three student representatives from local elementary and middle schools to participate in the discussion of a variety of topics that affect students. Both events are free and open to the public.
