EnAct Community Action is partnering with the City of Hurricane and group workcamps to provide free home repairs for elderly, disabled, or low-income families on the West Side of Charleston. You must own your own home in order to participate.
Approximately 432 volunteers will arrive at Stonewall Middle School on July 10 and stay until July 16. During that time, they will work on 72 homes on the West Side.
Volunteers and donations will also be needed to help support the workcamp groups. Interested volunteers can contact EnAct to provide assistance such as securing ladders, collecting trash, etc. Donations of toiletry items, baked goods, or monetary contributions are also needed to help with expenses.
For applications or to volunteer, contact EnAct at 304-414-4475 or in person in their office, located on the second floor of the Schoenbaum Center. The application deadline is Feb. 12.
