ESKDALE, W.Va. (AP) - A Kanawha County official says authorities believe a diesel fuel spill in a creek was intentional.
Media outlets report that the spill was discovered early Tuesday morning in a creek in Eskdale.
Kanawha County Deputy Emergency Management Director C.W. Sigman told WCHS-TV that two separate areas of ground were saturated with diesel fuel. Some of the fuel leaked into the creek.
Sigman said Cabin Creek Volunteer Fire Department members saw a pickup truck leaving the scene earlier this week.
Crews placed booms to contain the fuel.
The West Virginia Department of Environmental Protection is investigating the spill.
