Elementary and middle school students were invited Wednesday to the Charleston Civic Center for the second annual Powerama event. The free event, hosted by the Charleston Police Department, is aimed at talking to students about bullying, drugs and achieving their goals. The event featured guest speakers, demonstrations from police officers, firefighters and other agencies, as well as costumed characters. Charleston police partnered with the Charleston Fire Department, DEA 360, West Virginia National Guard, Heroes4Higher, Harmony Mental Health Group, WV Center for Children's Justice, and more, according to a news release.
