A car hit a school bus Tuesday afternoon in Charleston, but no children were on the bus during the crash, a Kanawha dispatcher said.
The incident occurred around 2:40 p.m. in the southbound lanes of Interstate 77 near the Greenbrier Street exit.
The driver of the car that hit the school bus was injured, and medics still were at the site at around 3:05 p.m., the dispatcher said. The driver is likely to be taken to a local hospital.
The road was shut down for a few minutes immediately after the wreck, but the lanes have since been reopened.
A recorded message from Kanawha County Schools alerted parents and guardians that Charleston area buses would be a few minutes late on their evening runs.
