Three people were injured when a barge and a recreational boat collided Friday night on the Kanawha River near the University of Charleston.
Kanawha Metro 911 dispatchers said it happened just after 9 p.m. Charleston firefighters pulled three people from the boat, which still was afloat.
Dispatchers said the three did not suffer life-threatening injuries but did not have further information on their conditions.
The barge was loaded with coal and was headed downstream on the river.
Little information was available Friday night. The incident is under investigation.
