A Charleston man is charged with battery and malicious wounding after police say he stabbed a man near the Kanawha City Cracker Barrel Saturday evening.
Corey Treadwell, 37, allegedly stabbed Joshua Longerbean, 25, of Charleston, in the shoulder with an unidentified cutting instrument, according to a statement from Charleston Sgt. James "Tyke" Hunt, assistant chief of detectives. Longerbean drove himself to Charleston Area Medical Center's Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Longerbean required sutures, Hunt said. Patrol officers arrested Treadwell shortly after the stabbing.
The department was unable to comment on a possible motive for the attack. The Gazette-Mail will update the story as relevant facts become available.
Longerbean is charged with malicious wounding and battery. He is held at South Central Regional Jail without bail.
