Police say a Kanawha County man crashed into a Charleston bus Thursday night, sending four people to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

John Courtney II crashed into the bus, operated by the Kanawha Valley Regional Transportation Authority, at about 9 p.m., according to a criminal complaint.

Police found Courtney, 55, sitting in the driver's seat with a deployed air bag, according to the complaint.

Emergency responders took four passengers to the hospital, the complaint states. Each complained of neck and back pain.

The complaint said Courtney, of Marmet, then failed a sobriety test. He later allegedly registered .206 on a breath test - more than double the legal limit.

Authorities arrested Courtney on a charge of aggravated driving under the influence. He remained at South Central Regional Jail in lieu of a $10,000 bail Friday afternoon.
