Charleston firefighters remained at the scene of a tree that fell and struck a power line Thursday afternoon on South Park Road in Kanawha City for several hours, according to dispatchers at Kanawha Metro 911.
No one was hurt when the tree fell into the live wires, according to the Charleston Fire Department.
One lane of the road was open Thursday evening, but Charleston firefighters said there was no indication of when the entire road would be cleared.
Power was out for several houses in the area, starting at about 745 South Park Road. Dispatchers were not sure of the extent of the outages.
Dispatchers said they were unsure if the tree falling was due to weather or other causes.
