In Pratt's upcoming election, several officials are running unopposed. Mayor Eric Holcomb is again running for the town government's top spot in the June 13 election.
Holcomb was elected in 2015. He beat out former mayor Gary Fields about a week after Fields was indicted by a federal grand jury on a drug charge. Holcomb had been a town councilman before becoming mayor.
Running for the Town Council are incumbents Bobby Berry, Vaughn Searls, Don Adams and Bob Wymer. A fifth member of the council, Walt Ivey, is not running for re-election, Town Clerk Freda Berry said.
The town's recorder, Kaye Ford is running for re-election.
Pratt's June 13 election is one of several coming up in Kanawha County.
n St. Albans will choose its officials Saturday during its first nonpartisan election. Mayor Dick Callaway, Dusty Herscher, Scott James and Ron VanBibber are running for mayor in that race. Twelve people are running for City Council.
Polling hours in St. Albans are from 6:30 a.m. until 7:30 p.m. at residents' regular precincts.
n Dunbar will hold its election Tuesday. Mayor Terry Greenlee is the only candidate listed on the ballot in the town's mayoral election. Greenlee beat out former mayor Roger Wolfe in the Democratic primary. Wolfe, who was ousted from office in 2008, changed his political party to independent and is running as a write-in candidate, according to the City Clerk's Office. Write-in candidates are not listed on the ballot.
Wolfe was removed from office in 2008 by a judiciary panel. The West Virginia Ethics Commission fined him nearly $35,000 in 2011 after it found that he violated the Ethics Act for receiving reimbursements for his meals, mileage and cellphone without the authority to do so.
Wolfe refuses to pay those fines because he said he believes he's innocent and that he was not given a fair hearing. Also on the ballot, 15 people are running for City Council.
n Clendenin's election is June 13. Incumbent Mayor Gary Bledsoe and challenger Shana M. Trippett Clendenin are running for mayor. Nine people are running for Town Council.
n Four people are running for mayor in Marmet's June 13 election: Jennings "Jay" Snodgrass, Robert "Bobby" Wells, Mayor David Fontalbert and James "Jim" Halstead Jr. Seventeen people also are running for Town Council.
