Mountaineer Montessori School, 308 20th St., will hold its annual community picnic at noon on Friday at Coonskin Park Riverside Pavilion. MMS families, faculty, incoming students, alumni, friends and community partner's students are invited to this end-of-year celebration, featuring a buffet of traditional and international foods. The 17th annual Kids Fishing Tournament is scheduled from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. on June 10 at East Lynn Lake's Lick Creek Pond in East Lynn. Sign-in begins at 8:45 a.m. The tournament is for four age categories: 3 years old and younger, 4 to 6 years old, 7 to 11 years old, and 12 to 15 years old. Prizes will be given to participants who catch the most, smallest, and largest fish within the four age categories. The Kids Fishing Tournament coincides with the West Virginia Free Fishing Weekend, which is June 10 and 11. The event is sponsored by Wal-Mart of Wayne and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Refreshments, lunch, and trophies will be provided. Lick Creek Pond is located off Rt. 37 approximately 18miles southeast of Wayne.
