The driver of a motorcycle faces charges after a police chase in St. Albans ended with a collision Sunday.
Adam R. Romaca, is being charged with fleeing with felony reckless indifference, according to a release from the St. Albans Police Department.
Police say the incident started in the area of Kanawha Terrace and Green Valley Drive when an officer saw the green motorcycle with purple question marks and recognized it as the same one that had fled from police on a previous day. The motorcycle also had no visible registration, police say. The officer tried to pull over the motorcycle in the 2500 block of Kanawha Terrace, but the driver did not yield and the chase began, police say.
The chase ended when the motorcycle went the wrong way down a one-way street and collided with another vehicle, which had stopped to prevent an accident, police say.
The motorcycle's passenger was ejected and landed on the windshield of the vehicle and the driver took off on foot, police said.
Police were able to catch the suspect after a brief struggle, they said. The man was taken to Charleston Area Medical Center General Hospital. More charges are pending, police say.
