Nearly 500 people participated Saturday in the inaugural "Race to End Racism" on Charleston's West Side. The race, which consisted of a 5k road race and a one-mile walk, was intended to help draw attention to the problem and realities of racism and to help fund a racial justice coordinator for the Charleston YWCA. The new coordinator would focus on projects inside of Kanawha, Clay and Boone counties. After the race, participants were offered free massages from Massage Envy, face painting and other children's activities.
