The Charleston City Council approved levy rates for the 2017-2018 fiscal year in a special meeting on Tuesday.
Rates for Class II, or owner-occupied properties, will increase from 18.52 cents per hundred dollars of assessed value to 19.58 cents.
Rates for Class IV levy rates, which include non-owner occupied properties such as businesses and rental properties, will increase from 35.16 cents per hundred dollars of assessed value to 39.16 cents.
City Finance Director Joe Estep expects an additional $330,000 in property taxes for the next fiscal year from the increased levy rates
The 2017 fiscal year begins July 1.
