Delta Kappa Gamma International Educational Society, Beta Chapter will hold its last meeting of the year at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday in the parlor of the Baptist Temple on Quarrier and Morris streets. The annual fun auction will be held. The Founder's Day luncheon will be at noon on May 6 in John Pastoral XIII. Reservation is $15 and is due to Sue Lang by April 27. Bring tea, coffee or cookies for the basket for the convention.
BB&T and the University of Charleston will present Linda Duessel, senior equity strategist at Federated Investors, as part of the University's ongoing Speaker Series from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Thursday in the Geary Auditorium. With more than 30 years of experience as a market strategist and a senior portfolio manager, she has been a contributor to CNBC's "Closing Bell" and has appeared on "Your World With Neil Cavuto" and Bloomberg Television. Duessel has been regularly quoted by the Associated Press, Wall Street Journal and Barron's and featured in annual roundtables for USA Today and Smart Money Magazine. The event is free. Parks at Dark will begin at 8 p.m. Thursday at Cato Park, 200 Baker Lane. This free event is family friendly and for all ages. Enjoy hot chocolate while walking lit trails. The Kanawha Valley Astronomical Society will be giving a presentation on constellations and will bring telescopes and lasers. There will be glow-in-the-dark foot golf and for the finale Parks and Recreation will provide sky lanterns for participants to release.
