A guided spring wildflower hike along St. Albans City Park's Nature Trail is scheduled to take place, rain or shine, beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday.
Those taking part in the free event are likely to see numerous blooms while on the half-mile trail, since 45 species of flowers were seen to be in bloom or near bloom during a walk along the trail earlier this week, according to a posting on the park's Facebook page.
Presentations on West Virginia's snakes, the monarch butterfly and other pollinators will be given after the hike, and volunteer work will begin on a new butterfly garden being developed in the park.
University of Charleston pharmacy students will offer blood pressure screenings to wildflower hikers.
