A Kanawha County church was destroyed Wednesday night in a fire.
Multiple fire departments were called to Green Valley Church of God on Green Valley Road near St. Albans at 10:34 p.m. after a fire alarm went off at the church, Kanawha County Fire Coordinator C.W. Sigman said.
Pastor Tom Coll lives close to the church. Sigman said he arrived at the scene at the same time as the fire chief.
Firefighters believe the fire may have started in the basement of the church. Sigman said there was heavy smoke throughout the area.
Sigman said the church was well-maintained, and had no major structural issues.
According to the church's website there are Wednesday night services at 7 p.m. Sigman said everyone had left the church by the time the fire started.
There were no injuries as a result of the fire.
